Slow down, sport bike riders told Toronto Sun
Slow down or hit a police crackdown.
In the wake of one death and one man facing racing charges following a high-speed motorcycle crash Friday, Ontario Provincial Police warned that as the weather heats up they’ll be on the lookout for sport bike riders trying to be daredevils.
Sgt. Dave Woodford told the Sun the OPP will be using its aircraft to keep an eye on sport motorcycles speeding and driving dangerously on the province’s roadway.
“These things are just dangerous when not used properly,” Woodford said Saturday. “We clocked one last year doing 259 km/h.”
The OPP will be using its aircraft to keep an eye out not just for speeding bikes but also for those driving erratically.
Cops don’t necessarily have to catch the motorcyclist speeding, drivers can phone in the bike’s plates to police, he said.
“We’ll run the plates and be waiting for them in their driveway,” Woodford said, adding the motorists can be witnesses to the reckless driving behaviour.
