EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Are you financially fit?

With a test in hand from a credit counseling service, 14 News hit the streets to find out how folks are fairing when it comes to their finances in this slow economy.

"If you can't afford it, you don't need it," Mike Lauderdale, who took the financial fit test, said.

That's Lauderdale's philosophy when it comes to money. He took the 23 question quiz, a quick way to find out if you're financially fit.

"It stops and makes you take inventory of what you're doing and your spending habits, so some things on there that I saw, I thought, 'oh, I should be thinking about that more' so I think it's a good wake up call for people," Erika Taylor, who took the financial fit test, said.

Out of 10 people who took the test, two scored above 90, meaning their finances are extremely stable. Four out of 10 scored between 70 and 89 which means they're in good shape, but should revisit areas of weakness. Two people, according to the test, should do a complete review of their finances, while two more scored below 50 which suggests meeting with a financial counselor to reevaluate their budgets.
